In 1933, the German Third Reich decided Borne Sulinowo would be the perfect place for its military headquarters. Almost overnight, this charming city, located on a sparkling lake and bordered by thick forest, was transformed into a military post surrounded by barbed wire. As WW II came to a close in 1945, the Germans deserted the town and the Red Army promptly moved in with its military operations. Borne Sulinowo became a high security base for the Northern Group of Armies. The Russians stayed for nearly 50 years. In October of 1992, the last of the soldiers left this military compound and a third army occupied the area, this time it was the Polish army.

On June 5, 1993, Borne Sulinowo became a registered town and officially opened to the Polish public to begin settling here. Due to much neglect by the military rule, most of the city’s buildings were left in ruins.

Borne Sulinowo

Some were remodeled, although most were in such bad repair that they had to be demolished.

So, what makes this town unique from other small towns in Poland? Due to the military occupations, Borne Sulinowo is the youngest town in Poland. People come to Borne Sulinowo to escape their old life and start a new one. Our family is here to bring the new life that can only be found in knowing Jesus Christ. Polish people openly embrace Americans and are willing to hear the Gospel when Americans are involved. Closed doors are opening for the native Polish people and the harvest is plentiful. The workers are ready to plant the seeds. Please pray that God works in the hearts and lives of the people of Borne Sulinowo, so His Word takes root in fertile soil. It is our prayer that this Polish town will one day be known as a Christian town.
